Swee'Pea

Traveling the wide open spaces of HWY 13
I've decided to give my packraft a name, something tough, courageous, and spirited.  I chose to call it Swee'Pea. Swee'Pea is Popeye's "boy-kid" and while he never really gets any bigger, he is a bad ass that can throw punches at will. I figured the name fit the small, tough, boat, but I'm weird like that.
Not going to make it very far on the water here

The mouth of REagle Creek, I'm told this is an excellent fishing spot
Monday I headed out on my second raft trip. It was short and sweet, right after work (early) before it got dark at 4:30 pm. I left the Menards in Burnsville and headed west to "REagle Creek". I knew I would not be able to paddle the creek due to all the downed trees but I like it back there and it has a nice access to the Minnesota River. From there I headed down river to the old swing train bridge and exited. I spent about an hour on the river enjoying the sun that made an appearance before going down. While it was only a two jaunt, it's always nice to get out and play.
Ahhh the sun.

Unused for many years, but still functional.

I just love this old nearly abandoned road.

Popeye rules. WHo else could get away with smoking a pipe and beating up your homies.
